This is one of the famous Tricks/Glitches in Super Mario 64. This video is gameplay on accessing the top of the castle via the right side without the use of the canon that is only unlockable after collecting all 120 stars, Yoshi will not appear though unless you have the 120 stars.

How to:
1. You must first perform a triple just by jumping once then landing into a small corner right next to the hill then Hitting A to jump higher then as soon as you hit the top of the hill press A immediately to pull off a triple jump.
2. After you've performed the triple jump correctly at the right point you should be at almost the highest point of the hill, At that exact point pull the stick to the Left (Mario should be sliding on his butt while facing to the left)
3. Press A at the correct point to jump onto the edge of the castle and hang, from there just hoist yourself up.

Note: This can be very very difficult to pull off at first, but after getting the idea it can be quite easy. Enjoy!
