The Hello platform engine gets a gun and explosives added into the mix. Tacky and Newgrounds-y as it is, this actually lends a fun bit of strategy, as Mario interacts with things solely with his machine gun and grenades, forcing you to approach tricky scenarios and narrow passages with a different tack. It does feature some grievances though, like an automatic fire power-up that's a detriment more than anything, difficulty navigating cramped areas, and the inability to kick Koopa shells.
Collecting all the Ace Coins changes nothing as far as I'm aware -- it makes no difference to the ending and doesn't unlock anything. It's purely for bragging rights.
