Super Mario Bros. : The Lost Levels (FDS) - Review
After the astonishing success of the original Super Mario Bros. , Nintendo thought to make a shrewd move and kill two birds with one stone .
The company wanted to give fans of the original Mario a sequel that would push their skills even further, in addition to promote its new peripheral the Famicom Disk System.
Therefore, Nintendo released Super Mario Bros. 2 in 1986 for the disk-based peripheral.
and as expected, the game was a huge commercial hit with more than 2 millon copies sold.
But before localizing the game for overseas markets , Nintendo deemed it too difficult for its western audience , and worried that it might frustrate gamers rather than entertain them.
Instead, the company re-skinned an already existing famicom game called " Yume koujou : Doki Doki Panic" and published it in North America and Europe as Super Mario Bros 2.
