Super Metroid - Lower Brinstar (piano cover)
Ah, yes. Super Metroid. One of my favorite games of all time, with what may be the best game soundtrack of all time. This was actually the first game music piece that I ever tried to learn on piano, many years ago. I've played it off and on for a long time now and finally decided to expand my arrangement of it.
I thought this piece would be fitting for October since it has a darker vibe to it. I'm planning on doing at least two more videos this month in the spirit of Halloween. They're not necessarily evil sounding tracks like, say, anything from Castlevania, they're just a bit darker than the stuff I usually do. I've got one instrumental that should be out in a week or two and a brand new cover with lyrics that I'm hoping to have out on Halloween day. I'm going to be extremely busy this month so no guarantees though.
For the curious; I finally figured out the audio issue with my keyboard! I think I mentioned this in a previous video description, but I've been having this problem where my keyboard sounded terrible when I plugged it directly into my recording interface. My workaround was to use it as a MIDI controller and use piano samples in Reason for recording. I mentioned several times that I hated the sound quality from doing it that way.
Turns out that I had to set up the keyboard in Cubase so it records in stereo. Derp. Now it sounds so much better!
Composed by Kenji Yamamoto and arranged by me.
