(First Playthrough, Xbox Series X/S), Conclusion

My thoughts (with spoilers) on this game are below:

This is an excellent story-based historical fiction game. It's one of the better ones to come along in the last few years. I really enjoyed the two main characters, and some of the interactions with other characters felt genuine and well developed.

The scenery is fantastic, and I really felt like I was exploring a unique European city during WW2. For a game that isn't open world, that's quite an accomplishment.

I'm not quite sure I liked the ending, although I didn't hate it. It leaves room for a sequel, with the same character, which is great. But I do think they could have wrapped up the main story a bit better.

Now, for the issue I had with this game. And it's really the only issue, but it's such a weird decision by the developers that I just couldn't move past it.

This is a historical fiction game. And because of that, there is a need to suspend disbelief, which is rather easy to do for most of the game. Whether it's the historical fiction town, or the automatons that populate the world...it's all rather well done and enhances the playing experience.

HOWEVER, for some reason that I cannot comprehend, the developers decided to create a Sasquatch character. And I don't mean that your character is in the forest and sees something through the trees. Not like that. I mean, they legitimately made a sasquatch into one of the main characters! You come across it a little more than halfway through the game, and at first it's just really weird. Like it's just thrown in there.

But then you come back to the sasquatch later on and the dude looks and acts like Che Guevara. That's not hyperbole. They literally fashioned the sasquatch after a historical Cuban revolutionary figure. It looks just like him.

It's deeply problematic because of the historical issues with equating people from other areas of the world as (literal) gorillas/apes/sasquatches...but it's also just downright freaking weird.

The sasquatch talks and does all of these human things and grows old and fights with the resistence...

I just cannot fathom what made this developer think any of that was a good idea. I couldn't get past it. And if, for some reason, a developer of this franchise is deciding to make another game, and they come across my video, for the love of god, guys, don't put another sasquatch in your game!

That issue took an A+ game down to an A- grade. It was that jarring of an issue for me.

Sasquatch???? Really?!

Excellent game though!
