Sandman (Sniper Scout) Guide: This episode focuses entirely on utilizing the Sandman as Scout. The best method I have found to use this bat is by playing as Sniper Scout. Using The Crit-A-Cola and Shortstop paired with the Sandman has actually proved to be fairly useful in many situations. How this sub-class goes is that your goal is to get kills from mid to long ranges using the mini-crits from the Crit-A-Cola to increase the damage of the Shortstop and mitigate the damage falloff from longer ranges. With the mini-crits, you can also use it with the ball from the Sandman to deal a little damage from long ranges, but this isn't really worth it. Instead, the Sandman is really getting at helping you get away from enemies after you with the slow effect. This helps with basically every class except Heavy, but it works really well against Pyros, Demoknights, Spies, and of course Scouts. Pyros need to be close to you to kill you, so slowing them down can make it easier to get out of their effective range. Demoknights, Spies, Scouts, and sometimes Medics, rely on their increased speed to be as effective at their jobs as possible, so taking that away from them can make it way easier to kill them since they cannot run away. Along with that, the Sandman can also essentially remove the greatest ability that Scouts and Demoknights rely on, speed, so the Sandman is ultimately effective against those two classes, especially if a Demoknight is charging at you, you can cancel their charge with slow effect. While the Sandman is good defensively, it can even be good offensively, but only really against Scouts and Demoknights, and maybe any other class if they are running away from you but that isn't really necessary since Scout can already catch up to them in most cases.

Conclusion: While the Sandman can be used effectively in this way, it isn't the best way to play Scout as much as Fat Scout isn't the best way to play Heavy. However, it is still really fun and adds a new way to play as Scout rather than running up to enemies and killing them, you can deal heavy damage from mid to long range and have easier times escaping from enemies, which you need considering how little health you will have with this loadout specifically. All in all, the Sandman still kind of sucks, and it would be cool if it got at least some buff or given the stun effect back.
