202What do you ordinarily hope to see in a beat ‘em up? Crunching combat, mechanical depth, replay value, and tight controls- things that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat ‘em ups themselves certainly have delivered in spades in the past (including with Shredder’s Revenge not that long ago).
That’s why Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants’ significant shortcomings in these areas (among others) are as hard to forgive as they are. Bringing the arcade title to PC and consoles in expanded form, TMNT Arcade doesn’t have nearly enough meat on its bones to be able to hold your attention, while its core gameplay mechanics also let it down with how shallow and roughly implemented they so often are.
