21I just figured I'd give my thoughts on the direction Tekken 8 is traveling with the whole premium shop controversy. News from both Katsuhiro Harada and Michael Murray indicates that the game will soon be getting a premium shop in which legacy costumes will be sold to customers for microtransaction currency using real money. Now, we're also getting Tekken's version of a battle pass - the Tekken Fight Pass!
This news broke on March 29th and was covered by Yellowmotion on Twitter. As with any debate, fan and community feedback has been exceptionally polarizing on the issue.
A look at Tekken 8's business model, including several different versions, a season pass at launch, and the inclusion of a microtransaction shop, are key indicators that the game intends to adopt live service elements to increase revenue streams.
