These Zoombinis got scammed so fast I think they're better identified as gullible than as logical

I'm Gaming Jay: Youtube gamer, let's player, retrogaming fan, and determined optimist... Join me in this series while I try out EVERY game in the book 1001 VIDEO GAMES YOU MUST PLAY BEFORE YOU DIE, before I die. The game review for each game will focus on the question of whether you MUST play this game before you die. But to be honest, the game reviews are just for fun, this series is more about the YouTube gamer journey. Let's try out those classic retro games we grew up with, have fond memories of, or heard of but never got a chance to try! And with that said, the game review for today is...

Jay's Thoughts
The Logical Journey of the Zoombinis is one of those edutainment video games from the 90's that tried to inject some education value into gaming, without turning it into school. And all things considered, I think they did a decent job of it.

The Logical Journey of the Zoombinis tells the tale of the Zoombinis, a collection of blue-skinned... things... that were tricked into servitude by capitalism and greed and now are on a journey to flee from their oppressors and find paradise. The core gameplay of the Zoombinis revolves around the Zoombinis themselves and the features that comprise them. Zoombinis can have one of a number of eyes, noses, feet, etc. As the Zoombinis work their way along their journey, they encounter various puzzles, wherein Zoombinis that have certain traits can pass a certain way, and others must pass another way. So what this means, is that in this game, you are going to have to try to figure out which feature (eyes, nose, feet, etc.) a puzzle is discriminating between, and then Zoombinis with those features one way through the puzzle, and others another way.

In addition to puzzles that discriminate between Zoombinis there are a few other puzzles that require you to say, make a pizza, or use frogs to hop across a lake, but the core idea of features and feature overlap remains at the heart of all the puzzles. Hence, if you're good with Venn diagrams, you should be able to work your way with a little trial and error.

Ultimately, the Logical Journey of the Zoombinis is a kids game, and it definitely feels that way. Whereas there are many video games that both children and adults can enjoy, I can't really see this being a game that many adults would really, really get into, unless they grew up with this game or then again maybe die hard fans of this type of puzzle game would really enjoy it. I can't say for certain, but I think probably most people could probably skip this one.

➙ Must You Play It?
The Logical Journey of the Zoombinis is an interesting puzzle game that relies on a featured-based puzzle mechanic. It's not a bad idea, but the overall game itself feels very geared towards children, and I think it's a little too simple for most adult gamers. So, unless you're a true fan of this game, I am recommending you skip this one.
