Probably the most famous town in gaming, at least in horror gaming. Right along with Resident Evil its famous for pioneering Survival Horror, though what I love about Silent Hill is its departure into the more psychological horror aspects.
I genuinely love the gameplay of Silent Hill 2, so I was excited to go back and get to the roots of it all. And to be honest, so far it's a blast. A game that, somehow, completely holds up in the modern, oversaturated horror game landscape.
And with so many games that look back on it, it's crazy to see how much EVERY modern horror game borrows from it. The insane camera angles, fun but imperfect combat, deeply intricate storylines with a daunting amount of subtext.
Oh, and some games literally want to look just like it. And I see why.
