...at first level of zoom-out.

No, there is no audio. Feel free to play your own rocking BGM instead of being obliged to listen to my very poor taste in royalty-free garbage. You're welcome.

1. I spawned into this world near this lava field so I made it the center of my map.
2. Here is my overview map. It is a work in progress.
3. The backboard of the map consists of Jack'o'lanterns and Item Frames.
4. Today I am going to be filling in the northeastern edge of the map.
5. I will take a made map with me to serve as a reference for when I have arrived at my starting point.
6. Disclaimer: this world is a Survival mode that allows cheats. The cheats give me access to the command "/gamemode Creative", which in turn gives me access to the Creative mode inventory.
7. I prepare the ingredients for the maps I will be making before leaving home. This advance preparation serves as a visual reminder for when I am done traveling in a given direction.
8. All of the items I use for this project can be found on the search tab (compass icon, top right tab of inventory window), but the Maps themselves and the Paper used to enlarge them are both found in the Miscellaneous tab (bottom left tab).
9. My departure direction is East, or in the direction that makes the X axis number more positive. I am an oldschool player who is returning to Minecraft. I remember compass directions being a point of great confusion when the game was new but it seems the developers have altered the game in recent years to make it so that "east" is now in the direction of sunrise. These new compass orientations correspond to the default orientation of the maps, which is intuitive and very helpful.
10. In Creative mode, I can both fly and then sprint. This makes covering ground quite expedient.
11. The only thing I find tricky about making these maps is a map must be created anew (first gazed upon) while you are standing inside the territory that belongs to the new map's purview, otherwise you will create a map that is redundant to one you already have, thus I need to be careful about where I land.
12. My sequence of operations for landing goes like this: switch to "/gamemode Survival", look at a blank map, plant my Workbench, right click on the Workbench, place the newly created map and a bunch of paper, extract the created map which now exists at the first level of zoom-out, chop up my Workbench so I can bring it with me, switch to "/gamemode Creative", fly and continue.
Note 1: a blank map can become a charted map by right clicking on it whether you are in Survival or Creative, but I find it to be less of a mess inventory-wise if I make this first look while in Survival.
Note 2: the zoom-out modification process can be performed three times on the same map, but you lose a considerable amount of terrain feature fidelity at each zoom level.
13. Once I have consumed all of the map-making materials for the northbound direction, I know it is time to turn West.
14. There are not always convenient landing spots just inside the new map zone -- water can be problematic. I sometimes need to create my own place to deploy the Workbench, hence the stack of Dirt I bring with me.
15. Based on previous explorations, I was expecting my turn-around point to be over a Swamp biome, so I kept an eye open for it. This seems to be it.
16. Once my westbound maps are consumed, and I find myself over the Swamp biome, it is time to turn around.
17. During this return trip I can fill out the other side of all of the maps I have created.
18. Here I am back at the northeast pyramid. It's time to turn south.
19. When I am back to the starting point of the expedition, I can use a teleport command to quickly return to home instead of flying the final leg there.
20. In order to place the maps onto the Item Frames, I need to switch from Creative back to Survival. The map board is quite tall, so the loss of flight mode becomes problematic. I've erected Scaffolding blocks to help me climb up to where I need to be.
