ULTRAKILL - Deathless Fresh File (New Game) P% Violent + Prime S. P1 & P2 in a row (Early Access)
Hey all! In this run, I go through the first level of Prelude (0-1) up until the last level of Act 2 (6-2) and even do the two Prime Sanctums (P-1 and P-2), all in a row, without dying any time in between, while getting P ranks on everything, on Violent difficulty.
This is not a speedrun; it's mostly a challenge/deathless run, so I'm not trying to go particularly fast or follow any set rules.
I apologize in advance for all the noise and laughs in the background; I was on a Discord call with friends, did not expect to get a successful run so early, and they were initially watching some funny videos. They agreed that I could record gameplay with them on call. I know they're laughing and chatting a lot, but please don't be mean because of that; if you wanna skip most of the unrelated chatting, you may skip to 20:15
(I'm also too stupid to separate OBS tracks lol)
This is not a category that exists - Although I'd love for Speedrun.com to have a Fresh File (new game) category for ULTRAKILL since all we have are New Game+ (NG+) categories. The only non-ng+ category is in Category Extensions, and is "absolute 100%", which includes grinding for over 5 million style points, which I don't think is reasonable thing to do entirely Deathless.
Because the category did not exist, I've made a few rules for myself:
- I am not allowed to Return to Menu or Restart Level, unless I am at full health and at a checkpoint, at ranking screen, or at the start room of a level before fully exiting it. This is because otherwise I would be able to simply exit the level if I believe I would die.
- I may Return to Menu to access the Prime Sanctums or one of the previous levels I have yet to P-rank or get a collectible, so I didn't need to do it necessarily in order, as long as I don't break the previous rule.
- Obviously this run would break a few rules in place for the existing categories, since it's needed to go back to the menu to change levels to collect alternate Nail Gun and access Prime Sanctums while still finishing the levels. (I think)
- A possible rule that could be added for myself in this Deathless branch specifically, is that levels need to be P-ranked first try. Just because it'd look cooler and smoother tbh.
I don't know if anyone ever did a run similar to this before, as in a Deathless P% from a fresh save file which includes P1 and P2. Maybe it's a world's first, but I'm not sure. At the end of the video I say it's probably a world's first, but I forgot how crazy this community is. Also, ULTRAKILL has no death counter, so I imagine people wouldn't care much about it. I'd love a general Restart Counter to be added to the game, alongside other cool stats that could be tracked (like kills, overall time spent on a level, total restarts, damage taken and dealt, style points accumulated, etc...)
I like to consider this run somewhat akin to the All Full Clears Deathless run I did in Celeste, although much easier since you can still make mistakes in ULTRAKILL without dying immediately; it took me only a few attempts, and about 3 days that I actively tried it. I wanted to do it on stream but I guess I couldn't contain myself lol, this game is addicting.
Anyways, that's about it; I will try continuing this savefile to see if I'm able to also collect all secrets and complete absolute 100% Deathless, but these will be in separate recordings. Depending on how much I learn to get style points without dying, I could try 100% deathless, but I don't know how viable that would be without a specific set of rules, and Cyber Grind would also not be allowed since you can't leave cyber grind without dying. It would also be extremely boring to grind the most optimal level over and over without it being cyber grind. This is why I think a "perfect" savefile shouldn't include the weapon colors, but rather just challenges, secrets, and P ranks. That's just me, though!
Thanks for watching!
I play mainly Celeste and stuff.
