If you have read George R.R. Martin's award winning work A Song of Fire and Ice or have watched the TV show The Game of Thrones, you may have wondered why the climate and the seasons in their world behave so strangely. Winters come and stay for decades, there seems to be no way to predict when they will occur and one of the more common phrases in the show is "The Long Winter is Coming".
In this video I will try to explain the scientific reasons behind the seasonal variation in Westeros and other parts of The Known World and give you my best interpretation of it.
