Moonlighter is the type of game seemingly made for a person like Magnus, in that it combines the almost addictive nature of progressive, almost citybuilding-like, shopsystem, in which you over time upgrade your store to allow for more money made, which in turn allows you to upgrade further, with the dungeoneering gameplay where you play basically Zelda in order to progress through randomly generated dungeons where you fight a great variety of monsters using a variety of weapons and tools at your disposal as you progress through the shopkeep part of the game. The combination feels like a mix between Zelda/Binding of Isaac and Stardew Valley LITE. It's got some parts of both, but not nearly as deep in any respect, which can be seen as a good thing for those who don't want to sink 200 hours into a game just to see it through.
Moonlighter is an action-RPG indie game developed by Spanish indie studio Digital Sun. It was released on May 29 2018 for Steam, Xbox, PS4 and Switch.
Moonlighter has the player manage their shop during the day and go exploring at night. Shopkeeping involves managing goods and receiving money, which the player can invest to upgrade the town and add services like a potion-maker and a blacksmith. These town upgrades allow the player to craft weapons, armor, and health potions, hire a part-time worker to sell things at night, as well as upgrade the characters' equipment. At night, the player can explore dungeons and confront hordes of enemies, which drop loot upon defeat; loot can also be found in chests once the player clears a room.
