final thoughts on mafia 2 DE:
first and foremost i must preface this in all caps: IF YOU HAVE THE ORIGINAL VERSION, PLAY THAT INSTEAD. THERE ARE BUGS AND GLITCHES IN THE DEF. ED. THAT WERE NEVER PRESENT IN THE ORIGINAL VERSION

now that that's out of the way...

In my honest opinion, the game is not that bad, it's certainly better than the remake of 1, you can definitely see that 2 didn't age all that well even in its remastered state. The story of 2 is not as compelling as 1, but its enough to keep your eyes glued to see what kind of BS Joe and Vito are in to.

Also, you can tell by playing the game that the developers of the original game wanted to add more content into the game like side missions with Derek at the port, and Mike at the junkyard. Had they added those, this game would most likely be on par with 1.

As it stands, I can't really put this in the same category (let alone tier) as the remake of 1.

So with that, I personally recommend picking this up when it's on a sale/discount. Much less brutal now compared to my final thoughts on this 3 years ago.
