Eine Diebesbande, die sich als Theatergruppe tarnt, plant die Entführung von Prinzessin Garnet. Zu aller Überraschung stellt sich heraus, dass die Prinzessin sogar sehr gerne entführt werden will, und somit freiwillig mitgeht – dicht gefolgt von Hauptmann Steiner, der sie um jeden Preis beschützen will.
Auf ihrer Reise begegnet die Gruppe dem jungen Schwarzmagier Vivi und Quina Quen vom Volk der Q. Gemeinsam lüften sie die Geheimnisse um den Kristall und schließlich auch um die eigene Herkunft.
