This is the video where I really started to think about how, despite this game overall being revered, there are some drawbacks to even the "greatest" of games. I mentioned this earlier with the active time battle system. My second issue with a lot of Final Fantasy games has to come with difficulty balancing. In older games, this can be a challenge considering noobs like myself will unfortunately fall victim to certain roadblocks depending on our level of knowledge of equipment. There is also the fact that in most of my experience with Final Fantasy, the stop spell is rarely an option due to how it can break the game against bosses, so I never truly know if there is a boss I can use it against. King Behemoth happened to be one of these bosses, and for better or for worse, I ended up having to rely on the Fandom Wikia to learn about this boss's vulnerability to Stop.

To me, the best of RPGs will be fairly challenging but give you the knowledge necessary to devise strategies. It's why I enjoy Shin Megami Tensei IV as an RPG... and why ATLUS is my favorite RPG publisher due to... for the most part... their emphasis on making a game where both you and the enemy are powerful. With older games, you are thrown to the wolves, and despite this game giving you decent direction on where to go next, there are times where, with a skill like life shaver, I would not have known it's elemental affinity as an earth move. That knowledge is hidden from the player unless they happen to get their hands on some gaia gear and notice it when they least expected it. The discovery of this is left entirely up to chance, and this is the few drawbacks of Final Fantasy VI. Yeah, I can be unskilled too, I don't doubt that, however it's another thing if the player isn't given the knowledge to overcome certain obstacles in a way which is not going to be hand holdy.
