I really enjoy the Flying Irons Spitfire in MSFS, and after watching Masters Of The Air, I wanted to further my WWII World War 2 flying experiences with other aircraft, but MSFS planes are really expensive, as are aircraft for DCS World.
This is where the IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles WW2 Air Combat PC Flight Simulators come in. Offering great value for money (especially when they're on sale), you get WW2 era maps and aircraft all bundled in - but the question I try to answer and address in this video, is whether the "flight simulator" part of IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad is as fun as MS Flight Simulator for the casual gamer.
The answer is of course, yes - plus you get air-combat thrown in too. I don't think you can beat MSFS for pure immersion, it's so cool being able to fly over your own house, but the IL-2 games, when paired with a flight stick or HOTAS, give as almost as immersive a flight sim experience, but with World War 2 planes, terrains, and aerial combat.
Thanks, Rob.
