Why Mount Tantiss Was SO HARD to Find | Star Wars Explained
We’ve seen throughout The Bad Batch how difficult it is for our heroes to find the hidden Imperial facility located at Mount Tantiss, but we never really knew why until this past episode. According to former Vice Admiral Rampart, Hemlock put a number of safeguards in to prevent anyone from finding the base who wasn’t supposed to, even others within the Empire. In order to maintain secrecy, any ship going there must first dock at Imperial Station 003 over Coruscant where the coordinates are transmitted directly to the navicomputer once the ship departs. Thus no Imperial officer or pilot were ever given the exact coordinates to the location, and instead it was transferred straight to the ship’s computer in order to jump to hyperspace. It would also make sense for the coordinates to be deleted and wiped from the ship’s memory upon its arrival to maintain this level of secrecy.
