I'm struggling to come up with a purpose for the giant mechanical frog. What I think is happening is that the small bug machines scan the area, and the frog "eats" them to process the data. The eggs it shoots out are the now-wiped drones, which can then start their scan anew. Maybe. Or it's just a machine we need to put down, and I'm overthinking it.
