Worst level design ever - DeathKeep [3DO, 1995]

Hello everyone! Welcome back to watch another retro gaming episode. In today’s episode, I am going to show you possibly the worst level design ever in video gaming history.

Let me know in the comments, what do you think about it.

Death keep is a first-person perspective RPG game with a touch of medieval AD&D gameplay in a full 3D environment. Don't get me wrong - It's not a bad game. I love it.

So what's wrong with it? Usually RPG games start relatively easy and the game gets harder as you progress. This is not the case in Death Keep. You start at a level that is complete hell!

Your starting location is in the Ice Caverns with slippery floor and boiling water all around you. Every time when you go in to the water you lose a lot of health. And it's so slippery that it is nearly impossible to avoid it. On that slippery ice you will meet your opponents, who also try to push you into the water or sometimes block you from getting out of the water.

Some of the enemies are not possible to kill with regular weapon and if your magic runs out, you have to escape. Run as fast as you can, on these slippery floors surrounded by boiling water!

In my opinion, this is the worst ever beginning of a game. The first level should be where you learn how to play and control. The game however gets a lot better in later levels.

What do you think?
