I first got hold of this in 1996 when I rented it from an old video store in Birkenhead. I then went back next day and bought it. Seemed like a good buy at the time and I paid about £30 in 1996, a cringworthy amount for a second hand game when converted to todays money.

It's not aged particularly well, but it's a nice bit of gaming history. This is the actual copy I bought 20 years ago.

In hindsight, the problems with Zero Divide are the ferociously difficult-to-pull-off specials, and the glitchy graphics. The Sega Saturn version although similar seems to look and play like a different game altogether (I'll be doing a Saturn Zero Divide vid in the next couple of weeks) - Zero Divide has excellent music and sound effects and it's hard to imagine the game managing to completely survive the ravages of time without it. So, positives and negatives - it's fairly easy to pick up, but unfortunately quite easy to put down. There's not much reward for progression, but it's still quite a pretty game and dirt-cheap to get hold of.

Based on the cost of this game in 2016 (wow have 20 years really come and gone?) I'd currently rate this at 6/10 - one for the collection in the highly unlikely event you've either never played this or don't own it - but there are much better fighting games on the PS1 you can pick up, with fighting robots or otherwise.

Oh God. It's that man again from Ren and Stimpy doing the narration. What were they thinking? Go home to your mamma!
