If you have items in the storage, they will be overwritten by the shops inventory.
You can also smuggle the the sell inventory, which would blank unless you sell items.

How to: Double input interact and pause, use wing in inventory, select the warp for puck village and navigate with the mouse to your house.

Open and close the inventory with the shortcuts (1,2,3 or 4) then close with the same button (not Esc) this will close the shop menu, this closes the shop menu. open storage, this will make the shop items appear in the storage

Since the Storage and shop uses the same memory area, the act of opening and closing the shop menu with number keys skips the update to swap between Storage and Shop.
