This is a complete walkthrough for the Hopeless Rescue Challenge in the The Long Dark. I will show you how to complete it in 17 hours or less without ever sleeping. I will show you where to find and when to use emergency stims, how to find and when to brew and drink coffee, and other essential tips and tricks. I will show you the path I take from Mystery Lake to Timberwolf Mountain, my strategy for ascending the peak, and how to get off the summit in a hurry. We navigate to Desolation Point in the shortest time possible and head for the lighthouse in pursuit of an excellent fast time! This challenge is easy to complete and hard to master!

In a previous version of this HRC guide, I help you get under 24 hours. It includes a multi-campfire technique for brewing coffee at the summit, and shows you where to find coffee, water, wood for fires, and tin cans. Other than simple efficiency, the fire on the mountain is the main difference between these two strategies, check it out if you need a less ambitious approach!
