0005: Continuing to do the Mage origin. You can either help or betray your “friend” and his girlfriend as he is set to become a tranquil and you break into the vault or something. Fairly boring. Some of the asshole dialogue choices can be funny in how nasty they can be, specifically the cow comment. Not that it matters as the game overall relies on the Main quest track - response to player choice track - Main quest track process of dialogue. Similar problem to the Noble origin is that the people I am matched up with in this origin are guaranteed by the knowledge and expectation of the story to not really matter to be relevant beyond the beginning hours so why get attached? Why care about the best friend? It is a tell not shown friendship, you get one extended conversation with him before this question gets put before you and it is clear the animation can’t handle imbuing you with the sort of camaraderie that is expected and the VO can only do so much and they don’t do it here.
