We enter the Crimson Rains, which is possibly the last, or at least second-to-last, area of the game! The platforming here is a nice pop in difficulty, the enemies are beefier, and I am pretty satisfied with the area overall.
Our friend the wandering merchant sells us a statuette right off the bat, then up, up, UP we climb while dodging pits and spiky red vines/veins. Definitely equip rosary decorations that negate falling and trap damage here, unless you are VERY confident in your movement. Hell, do it even if you are.
We don't grab any items of note, just more tears and marks, but we do make it up to the boss, Eviterno.
His first phase is pretty simple, and there are a ton of little exploits you can use to nullify most of his attacks and just burn through the old man.
Then, though, he grabs Crisanta's sword from, uh, inside of Crisanta, and this fight becomes a new kind of monster. Be ready to parry, parry, dodge, parry, counter, and maybe parry a lot in this one.
After quite a lot of trying, we take him down, and get the Remembrance of Crisanta, which we turn into the Crisanta statuette, which increases our dodge speed!
Next: do we beat the game, or explore for cherubs and riddles?
