This week Metropolis is in the dark. We go along in the ups and downs of life when you're a blind citizen.
In the Netherlands we try to make it easy for our blind compatriots in various ways, for example with blind paths and ticking traffic lights. What is it like to live blind in various countries? Let's find out about a blind life.

But hunter Carey in the North American town of Fargo has to fill his own business. Although he does not see a hand, he manages to get rid of wild game and thus provide food for the table.
With a little help from his fellow gunmen, Carey's hunting talent has been supplying him with a full freezer with venison for years. This is to the great satisfaction of his wife, who is only a little proud of her cost-winning blind sniper.

The 10-year-old Abdul Shakur in Tanzania has a lot more trouble as a blind boy. Shortly after his birth, his parents discovered the visual disability of their son, whereupon his father left the young family. Getting a blind child is often seen as shame in Tanzania. Fortunately, the facilities for blind children in Tanzania are starting to get underway and Abdul is now being taught by a teacher at home. And he turns out to be a very smart man.

There are many facilities for the visually impaired in the Netherlands. 61-year-old football fan Swiep from Zoetermeer has been blind for thirty years and has been an ADO fan all his life. He has never seen the new stadium of his club in The Hague, but he is there during all matches along the line. Because in the Netherlands there are three football clubs with a special blind stand in their stadium and ADO is one of them. Swiep is sitting close to the field on his exclusive stand and there is even a special reporter for the blind football fans.

And in Senegal our correspondent Alhamdou found a particularly talented blind car mechanic. Pape Seck does not need his eyes at all during his work, because he can hear what is wrong with it when a car comes running. Every Monday he leaves the countryside to his workshop in the capital Dakar. "I am so fond of my job, that I am already looking forward to the next work week on Friday," says Pape, while he is tinkering with a broken truck engine.
