Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge playthrough (Game Boy Color) (1CC)
Playthrough of the version included on Konami GB Collection Vol. 4. This version has full color support, and also has a new, more literal, translation for the intro, cutscenes and ending.
The Castlevania Adventure was my first Castlevania game, and despite its reputation, I loved it as a kid. But the sequel is a massive improvement over the original, with faster and fairer gameplay. You won't lose your whip's power when hit by most enemy attacks, Christopher also moves faster than he did in the first game and he can also use sub-weapons now. Add on a great soundtrack and you have one of my favorite GameBoy games.
Which subweapons are available depends on which version of the game you're playing. The original Japanese version had the cross and holy water, but the American and European versions had an axe instead of the cross. For this version, the axe was removed, and the cross was used instead. The cross can be really good against the bosses, especially Dracula, but the axe is also incredibly useful because it's good for getting things above you, like bats. I really would have preferred for the axe and cross to be kept, and the water removed.
This is the first time I've done a playthrough of this game for my channel, I made a few mistakes in certain places, especially at around the 33 minute mark. But I got through it without a single death, and even defeated Dracula without taking any damage (thank you cross). I can remember thinking he was next to impossible when I first got to him, but once you know where to go to avoid his orbs, he's not that hard, Soleil is arguably more difficult to him. Anyway, here's a plug for my shrine about this game:
