94We modern people have conquered the world over all sorts of other human beings, but are we strong enough to guard ourselves against the smallest inhabitants of this planet, the viruses? Previously viruses have wiped out large parts of humanity. Can we tame them now? And if we survive ourselves and the viruses here on Earth then it will still not be the end of our conquest. We want to conquer the quantum world, we want to colonize the space, the moon, everything. Humans started out as hunter-gatherers and conquered nature. Now, it’s about conquering the micro and macro cosmos. We hunt the deepest seas and endless space. Which frontiers do we have left? You can wonder if we really are the boss.

Jean Jacques Hublin is an evolutionary anthropologist and paleontologist from the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig (Germany). How did Homo Sapiens conquer the world and what is the future of our species?
Ron Fouchier is a virologist that started his career as an HIV expert before proceeding to influenza viruses. His research includes conquering the world of viruses by using them as medicine.
Jan Wei Pan – quantum physicist. Conquering space and the quantum world, he marked history by launching the world’s first quantum satellite. This technological achievement was launched in August 2016 and is intended to enable a non-cracking form of information exchange.
