Darksiders (2010) Retrospective - There’s nothing wrong with being derivative if you do it well
Darksiders (2010) might not offer gameplay as complex or polished as its many inspirations, but it does provide an unashamedly over-the-top story, memorable characters, distinct aesthetics, and a varied gameplay loop that does a little bit of everything well enough. It’s rare that a jack-of-all-trades game would score above 7/10, but I feel it excels at mashing together several ideas and scratching multiple itches at once.
0:00 - Intro
1:18 - War goes to war with everybody
3:13 - Style and consistency
4:49 - Cleaving apart demons and angels is fun…
6:23 - …but I prefer the other gameplay elements
9:05 - There’s nothing wrong with being derivative if you do it well
