Devil May Cry Review
20Devil May Cry is a 2001 action-adventure, hack-and-slash game by Capcom and is responsible for the birth of the character-action genre.
It was initially going to be Resident Evil 4, and while that game did materialise, its initial pitch was different compared to the final release. Shinji Mikami, an executive producer, felt the direction was becoming too removed from the Resident Evil name.
He insisted Hideki Kamiya, the game director at the time, make it a new IP, and although both men didn't get along, Kamiya eventually resented Mikami's request.
Devil May Cry was critically and commercially successful, selling over two million copies and being praised for its challenging, stylish combat.
However, this year makes it twenty years old, so is Capcom's classic still fun in 2021?
