Hey players, DJay here with a new bullet hell shmup longplay on one of CAVE's arcade hits of the early 2000's, Dodonpachi Daioujou. This is the Black Label version shown in this video, with a 1 loop game selected.

Description of the game:

Dodonpachi Daioujou/Dodonpachi Blissful Death (Dodonpachi III in international regions) is a vertical scrolling bullet hell shmup and 4th entry in the Donpachi series developed by CAVE and licensed by AMI for the arcades in April 2002 on the PolyGame Master system board, which was also used later for 2003 Ketsui: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi. An updated version named Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label was released later that same year in October and the Tamashii (Taiwan-Chinese) version in April 2010, both exclusively in Japan, with an additional feature of selecting to play 1 loop or the standard 2 loop game. It received home ports including the PlayStation 2 in April 2003 and the XBOX 360 in February 2009 in Japan only and a worldwide release on iOS in February 2012. The game's soundtrack consist of names that are puns on video game companies Raizing, Irem Corporation, Toaplan, NMK, Seibu Keihatsu, Takumi Corporation, Taito, Success Corporation, Treasure and Psikyo, mostly due to the game's soundtrack composer Manabu Namiki showing respect for those shooting game companies. The Elemental Dolls, Shotia, Leinyan and Exy, appear again in Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu as boss characters.

After the events that took place in Dodonpachi, the remains of Donpachi Corps were sealed away in the moon, never to be heard again. As a millennium had passed, the robotic army, led by Hibachi, reawakened and slowly rebuilding in order to wipe out humanity, taking the moon colony Lunapolis along with them. Now, a new pilot, along with the aid of sentient female androids known as Elemental Dolls, must journey to save mankind from Hibachi's evil clutches.

The game plays similar to other installments in the series, but with a few additions. Players choose between 2 types of ships, each with different firing range and choosing between 3 different Elemental Dolls that affect the ship's shots and laser weapons.
Shotia: Stronger shot power, but a weaker laser.
Leinyan: Stronger laser power, but a weaker shot power
Exy: Balanced Shot and Laser power
There are 5 stages in total that the player must traverse across. The game reintroduces the GPS (Get Point System) as well as combos by destroying as many enemies as possible in a successive chain before it resets completely by taking too long to destroy the next one. A new feature is the Hyper item which is obtained by achieving large combo chains, point-blanking enemies at close range or obtaining bee medals while a large combo is active. When the hyper meter is full, a hyper item will drop. This will provide a temporary firepower boost, increase the rate at which you build up your combos and emanate bullets upon activation. Hidden in this game is the rank system which increases as the player uses the hyper item and it is dependent on the level of the hyper used, but decreases if the player uses bombs while the hyper is active or if the player dies. After meeting any of the requirements, players will came face to face with the trademark true final boss, Hibachi. After completing all 5 stages, the game takes players to the more aggressive second loop if the players meet any of the requirements. (In the original White Label version, players are allowed at least 2 misses, bombing no more than 3 times, collecting the 2x bee item without dying or scoring at least 350 million points) or the game ends at the first loop if selected (Black Label version only).

Do you have what it takes to overcome 5 super difficult stages in this bullet hell arcade hit by CAVE?
