In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Link encounters four Great Fairies - Cotera, Kaysa, Mija, and Tera. When Link first meets each of the Great Fairies, they explain that their Fountains and their powers have been drained due to a lack of visitors and offerings to them. In this game, the Great Fairies provide a similar service to those in Breath of the Wild, namely upgrading Link’s various pieces of Armor. Players with enough rupees and the appropriate materials can upgrade a piece of Armor by one rank for each of the Great Fairies they’ve found throughout Hyrule. Rumours among the locals speculate that the Great Fairies are highly fond of music and may be coaxed out of hiding when serenaded.
