- Analysis:
• Wang Yi is very fast and she takes advantage of it. They had to nerf her Attack Speed from 8 Original to 8 XL by a whole Velocity -10. Her whole game plan is to capitalize off of her speed to cripple officers during her duels.
• Wang Yi isn't particularly good at dealing with multiple playable officers at once. Her Switch Attack (SA) is one of her better offensive + defensive in-one attack, however, she will get Musou-countered quite often. Her best and safest chances of taking on a multiple playable officers is through C6 and singling them out with Normal Strings S5. All of her "strong" Musous are grab variants, but they are not that strong. She is better off saving them to dodge excess Musou-counters since all of her offenses bar Cyclone offense are prone to them.
• Wang Yi has an auto-block mechanic in which she blocks incoming projectiles during her Normal Strings. I'm sure Koei had nothing but the best intentions when making this mechanic in trying to assist the player from taking damage, but seriously though, this mechanic is VERY annoying. And more often than not, it has a better chance of the player taking more damage afterwards. In this game, AI's are programmed in a way that they are actually more aggressive towards players that are blocking vs flinched. In short, of the two choices, it is better to get flinched from peons in the face of officers. For Wang Yi, to make things easier, she wants to prioritize where archers are gathered and be in their vicinity so they become sword peons, either that, or take them out first. However, during Rage state, Wang Yi wants to ignore archers and instead, focus down officers hard while having her back face towards archers to prevent the auto-block. In particular stages where they shower arrows for special battlefield effects (i.e. Huang Zhong's base in this video has that effect), it is extra annoying.
- Movesets:
• Normal Strings S5-repeat damage is pretty good on regular officers, but it starts to really fall off against double Defense super officers (12:18).
• C2-EX is good when Wang Yi has an advantageous or neutral Affinity against officers. C2-EX is particularly good at shattering Storm Rush gauges (1:30). As a strategy (similar to Cao Cao's), if possible, is to ignore every officer and prioritize in shattering Storm Rush gauges (11:18). Since it is an EX, it is going to bypass any Affinity check. Doing this can save her a lot of headache in a pileup of any sort.
• C6-EX is her "infinite" loop charge attack that is only made possible because of her EX. If Wang Yi has an advantageous or neutral Affinity against the enemy officer, then she is capable of the "infinite" loop strategy, enabling her to catch enemies with back-to-back C6-EX-repeat (short demonstration shown at 0:43, only one loop). While C6-EX can deal decent physical damage under Rage, she can also take advantage of it with her elemental weapon because it does have two elemental activation (12:18, 13:37). Unless it is a Cyclone offense, on-hit C6 usually causes Musou-counter.
- Options(s):
• Cyclone is mandatory on her element setup because it is the most consistent form of elemental activation. It is also her only form of offense that won't trigger Musou-counter while enabling her to comfortably take out double Defense super officers. Explosive can be replaced with Thunder if she wants more elements.
• None of her Musous are good in more ways than one, but if she had to click one for safety, it is Musou 1; and for damage, Air Musou. Her True Rage Musou is workable: Flurry, Frenzy, Aggression, Velocity, Jubilation, Roar weapon, but note that the damage output with this weapon setup for her normal and charge attacks will be substantially weaker.
