- Analysis:
• Zhang He's damage output with his Air Musou is absolute sheer madness. Not even Zhang Fei's high base Attack, extra ability modifier (Harmony), C1-EX buffed Musou 2 with high Flurry count can contest it. Weapon 1 is his primary weapon to maximize damage (against double Defense super officers). Weapon 2 trades Fury for Jubilation as a means to replenish his health. Even without Fury, this setup can still OHKO super officers comfortably.
• Zhang He's ability to fill his Musou gauges through his C3-EX is fantastic. Not only is it his main fill method, it's also his main charge attack to setup into Air Musou. There are two methods to setup his Musou as well as two variations for each of them. There will be more on this in the "Movesets" section.
- Movesets:
• Air Musou is his main source of damage. Zhang He's Air Musou damage deals more damage the higher he is with his enemies. Zhang He has many ways to put enemies in the air with the combinations of C3-EX, Switch Attack (SA), Jump Attack x3 (JA x3), and Jump Charge (JC). With the way he constantly fills both Musou + Rage naturally, he never really needs to worry about running dry. All there is to it is to make sure is that Zhang He always has at least one gauge of Musou before flying up in the air to deal with Musou-counters.
• Jump Attack x3 (JA x3) can be used consecutively up to three times in one succession. The whole point of JA x3 is to elevate Zhang He higher with his enemies for his Air Musou. Note that JA cannot lift enemies if Zhang He has an Affinity disadvantage, if this is the case, skip JA x3 and jump straight to his Jump Charge (JC).
• Jump Charge (JC) can be connected immediately after JA x3→JC. Similar to JA x3, it is meant to elevate Zhang He to EVEN higher elevations for his Air Musou. If Zhang He has an Affinity disadvantage, it is best to use C3-EX→JC→Air Musou as opposed to C3-EX→JA x3→JC→Air Musou. Note that only the initial animation of JC is wanted, not the whole drill animation.
• C3-EX is his bread and butter EX attack. It guard breaks on the last hit of C3 and ignores Affinity during the EX activation. This is also his main Musou fill method. With a decent size crowd, he can fill up to two Musou gauges and sometimes, almost all three (0:51, 12:41). C3-EX is his primary setup for his Air Musou (12:57). To maximize Air Musou damage, Zhang He can:
+ With advantage or neutral Affinity: C3-EX→JA x3→JC→Air Musou (2:53, 11:50, 13:06), this combo has enough damage to OHKO double Defense super officers in late stages with Weapon 1
+ With disadvantage Affinity: C3-EX→JC→Air Musou (11:20), this is the second most damaging combo that can clean OHKO super officers
• Switch Attack (SA) is the alternative, safer and quicker, but "weaker" setup into his Air Musou. Great for all officer pileups to ignore Affinities and guards altogether and is easy to setup against regular officers:
+ With advantage or neutral Affinity: SA→JA x3→JC→Air Musou
+ With disadvantage Affinity: SA→JC→Air Musou (6:53)
- Option(s):
• Zhang He doesn't take advantage of Rage to well. Burn off his Rage when his Musou gauges are low or against generics to KO them with C3-EX. If timed perfectly just when his Rage is about to end, it could be used with C3-EX to setup against Affinity disadvantages before Rage ends since Rage neutralizes Affinities (1:15, as a demonstration of how).
• For the most part, Zhang He should not cancel out of C3-EX too early with Double Jump if there is Musou-counter because it is possible for enemy Musou-counters to fail catch Zhang He in the air. By cancelling early, Zhang He is guaranteed 100% stun (5:33, I'm guilty of this too). If timed properly, Zhang He can escape Musou-counters (10:30, 11:42, 12:52 against Lu Su). But regardless, Zhang He will always want at least one gauge of Musou before flying up.
