What a beautiful ending to this window. I was not expecting Caltrop to bite *at all*. The first 3 hours if this window was just awful. I even had a gecko slip. The Caltrop catch in this session was the only mooched bite that wasn't a dustfish, and that's all I neded. This catch shows that anything can happen when fishing. Never give up.

I've had a history with Ambling Caltrop. The stats have Ambling Caltrop at having a 5% slip rate. I've had *2* slips in a row with this one. Ambling Caltrop is incredibly shy. It's a big fish you can expect to attend many windows for before getting a bite, and hopefully you don't see the insane 1/400 double slip.

There is slapping strategy with Dustfish and Crab, but just know that slapping crabs may lead you to feeling like you shouldn't reel in on very early bites, which can technically lead to lost geckos. You're looking for !!! bites around the 32 second mark or later, but Thorned Lizards are scrips, so you can reel in on any !!! bite if you want scrips. Caltrop's bite time can go long. You'll have a good idea if it's on the line usually.

Ambling Caltrop/Maru Crab/Henodus Grandis are all on their own tier in SHB. They are not legendary fish, but they certainly have a reputation of being incredibly frustrating big fish.
