Freedom Planet: Sonic Soundtrax Edition (Part 1) - Dragon Valley [Lilac]
A strange aircraft dives over the Dragon Valley. Lilac the Dragon girl gives chase to see what's going on!

Welcome to Project 3K, a one-off playthrough of Freedom Planet featuring music taken from multiple Sonic The Hedgehog games. A series celebrating the point when I hit 3000 Subscribers.
I was very specific with my choices of music - I avoided things like fan remixes, chiptune (aside from the 1-Up) & different versions/acts of the same theme. I wanted to have different pairs of themes for each stage, even if they may not sound like themes you would normally put together.

Tracks Replaced:
Intro Cutscene (no official name) = “Event: Strain” [Sonic Adventure]
Lord Brevon 1 = “Event: Resurrection of Mephiles” [Sonic ‘06]
Lord Brevon 2 = “Metallic Madness - Present” [Sonic CD (US)]
Final Dreadnought 3 = “Panic Puppet Zone - Act 1” [Sonic 3D: Flickies’ Island (Saturn)]
Freedom Planet Theme = “SA2 ...Main Rift for “Sonic Adventure 2”” [Sonic Adventure 2]
To The Rescue = “South Island (For The Land of the Sky)” [Sonic OVA]
Dragon Valley 1 = “Deep Woods” [Sonic & The Black Knight]
Invincibility Powerup = “Undefeated (Invincibility)” [Sonic Mania]
1-Up = “1-Up (S3&K)” [Sonic 3 & Knuckles]
Minor Boss Battle = “Arsenal Pyramid” [Sonic Forces]
Dragon Valley 2 = “Jungle Joyride - Day” [Sonic Unleashed]
Major Boss Battle = "Sunset Heights" [Sonic Forces]
Stage Clear = "Stage Clear (Mania)" [Sonic Mania]

Music Choices Explained:
- Event: Strain -
It’s a great opening track. Works great as a surprise attack theme.
- The Resurrection of Mephiles -
Only played for 2 seconds (as was the original track, “Lord Brevon 1”). Will explain better in Part 3.
- Metallic Madness (US) -
While more mechanical than Brevon’s original theme, it goes hand in hand with Brevon’s alien origin. “Metallic Madness (US)” is a fantastic ambient track that works well (if not, better) as a cutscene/character theme.
- Panic Puppet: Act 1 (Saturn) -
Reused for a later stage (as was the original track). Mainly picked for the intro due to its build up (but still a perfect theme for the stage later on - will explain more in Part 12).
- Main Riff for Sonic Adventure 2 -
It’s not too whimsical & not too gloomy/foreboding, it’s a punchy track that fits this intro, which is funny since the original Freedom Planet theme is upbeat & adventurous. I guess the Live & Learn riff transitions smoothly from Panic Puppet.
- South Island -
A no brainer. A perfect theme for Lilac & co (& an iconic theme too, especially since it’s from the OVA).
- Deep Woods -
The first track I thought of. It has a hint of mystery & ancientness with a dash of melancholy. The original track is more upbeat, but I really dig the nature-like vibe of “Deep Woods.”
- Sonic Mania’s Invincibility & Stage Clear -
Jingles very similar in tone to the originals, they’re practically parallel.
- Arsenal Pyramid -
I don’t have much of a reason other than that it sounds like a mini boss in itself. It’s a good replacement theme.
- Jungle Joyride (Day) -
The stage switches up on the second act, & the drastic shift between “Deep Woods” & “Jungle Joyride” gives the sense of urgency.
- Sunset Heights -
One of the most epic stage themes from Forces. The structure of the theme sounds very much like a boss theme. Makes a more fitting theme for the longer & technical bosses of Freedom Planet.
