In this video, I delve into one of my all-time favourite open-source games, "Shapes". Having received an intriguing upgrade, "Shapes" is reminiscent of games like Factorio but is more abstract, focusing solely on the creation of specific shapes. While I've previously covered the game on my channel, this is an opportunity to revisit it. It's available on Steam and shapes.io. If you've bought it on Steam, you can play the full version on shapes.io, but the website itself offers a substantial demo version which can take players up to level 20.

The game is uniquely compelling as there's no defined fail state, allowing players to solve puzzles at their own pace. It simulates real-world problem-solving without artificial time constraints, adding to its charm. As I demonstrate the game's start and progress to my current level (six), I highlight the dynamic mechanics, such as the rotating and merging of shapes to meet specific demands. Interestingly, as you progress, previous levels can assist in solving newer challenges, demonstrating the game's intricate design. The soundtrack, which I briefly touch on, is a delightful accompaniment available on Bandcamp.
