Let's start first by explaining "Down". Down is a status ailment that you can inflict to an Aragami by continuously attacking its parts that are considered as "Weak Points". All Aragami have at least 1 or 2 Weak Points that can be taken advantage of. You can find the Weak Points of all Aragami in the "Other Useful Tips" section of the Aragami Pages here: [http://godeater.wikia.com/wiki/Aragami].

Both Blades and Guns can be used to inflict Down. The effectiveness of both Gun and Blade differs for each Aragami and each Weak Point.

Down Lock is an application of taking advantage of Aragami Weak Points by continuously inflicting the Aragami with the "Down" status ailment without letting it get up and counter attack (requires timing in your attacks also). The advantages of using this technique is simply allowing you and your teammates attack an Aragami without getting hurt. Also, each aragami has atleast 1 or 2 "Down" stance which exposes most of its parts to melee attacks.

Note that if an Aragami has 2 Weak Points, each part has a seperate "Down Counter" so if you want to use Down Lock, make sure you concentrate only on 1 Weak Point.
