This month marks the 30th anniversary of the Golden Axe series. The first game launched in Arcades in May 1989 with a Sega Genesis port to follow in 1990 for North America. Truthfully that’s just one of many ports of this game as it released on a multitude of retro consoles back in the day along with being combined into various Sega collections.

It is one of their babies: an in-house brawler/hack and slash game that Sega could call their own. So sit back and relax as I take you through a quick, bizarre tour through Golden Axe. I'm not kidding. The release history is bonkers. Enjoy!
