"Gynoug", known as "Wings of Wor" in North America, is a side-scrolling shoot-'em-up released in 1991. Developed by NCS Corporation and published by Masaya, it debuted on the Sega Genesis. The realm of Iccus faces an invasion by hordes of demons and monsters, commanded by a mysterious entity named the Destroyer. In response, the heavens dispatch the angel Gynoug (Wor) to protect Iccus and thwart the malevolent schemes of the Destroyer.

Players control the flying angel Gynoug, who can fly, shoot enemies and use magic spells once they are collected. The movement speed can be increased up to eight times by collecting specific items. There are three variations of the standard shot, where both the power and the size/density can be enhanced up to five times. Magic spells consists of six offensive and two defensive spells, and Gynoug can store up to three of them for later use.

When Gynoug sustains damage from enemies, a life is lost, reducing his weapon power and size by one level. He also returns to his base speed. Each level features mid and end bosses, all showcasing grotesque human-metal hybrids. There are four difficulty levels, and is a satisfyng challenge on normal.

Overall, "Gynoug" for Sega Genesis is a great shoot-'em-up. Visually, the game is truly unique, blending ancient Greek, gothic, steampunk, and bio-metallic elements into a cohesive aesthetic that gives the game a dark and strange atmosphere. The game's soundtrack featuring organs and horns complements the dark themes with medieval-inspired melodies. The game is an interesting, challenging and fun shoot-'em-up for fans of the genre.
