This is to prepare for the MMR relay race, since I'm also a volunteer runner for this game. My submitted time estimate was 1:45 so needless to say, I had to work. After a week or so of practice, this was the result.
This run has very good and very bad stuff. Most bosses were of the latter, some stages went horribly south, and I wasn't fully warmed up. But a lot of the game went as expected. Surprise getting all three engine skips, even if my execution was particularly slow with the latter ones.
If you haven't noticed, this run blacks out very often, especially at the beginning of rooms, cutscenes... It's one of the notorious reasons why this game on PS2 hardware is a huge pain to speedrun on (I'm using a Retro Tink 2H Mini). You need even more specialized equipment to bypass these black screens, which I don't have... so instead, I learned to live with them. As it turns out, they don't matter too much for the vast majority of ther game, most they can do is make it hard to grab clocks. And for the few that are annoying, they merely force you to wait a little bit, without incidence in the routing of the room itself.
On the other hand, and as illustrated in this run, it made things like getting through the save screen very slow. A black screen usually lasts 2 seconds, so multiplied by 20+ across the run, it makes for a significant time loss. I could probably learn to push buttons in the darkness, but it's something I'm not too confident upon.
A lot of time to save, and it shouldn't be too had to reach the estimate, once I have a tighter grip on things.
I'd probably do-uhh... let me rephrase it... I would *see* myself running this a couple more times in the following days. That would be closer to the truth.
