When the world of gaming was moving into the third dimension and the hobby was reaching new levels of fame, gamers started to want more out of their games. Longer games. Deeper games. More realistic games.
One company whether by their smarts or their stupidity stayed the course and tried to bring the older gaming ideas into the new landscape. They tried to keep genres going that were quickly going out of style, and cater to a unique brand of gamer.
Sadly, this pushed the company "Treasure Games" into the background for a lot of people, and their limited modern appeal caused many of their games to be left in their homeland of Japan.
However the still developed a strong reputation in the west, as a company that puts the game first and focuses purely on what made people gravitate to video games in the first place. The fun factor.
Today we're looking at one of Treasures most prolific games "Sin and Punishment." But we're not just looking at the first game, the one for Nintendo 64 that was left in japan for years, but we're also looking at its sequel, "Sin and Punishment Star Successor" or as it's known in many other places in the world "Sin and Punishment, Successor to the Skies."
Unlike the first in the series, Star Successor did get an american release without much waiting, and even went on to great critical acclaim, but did that translate to sales? And would it be enough to keep treasure going?
