Lyophilized, or freeze / spray dried human blood plasma, is shown again and again to be safe, effective, and easily implemented for prehospital care of trauma and shock patients. And yet, American EMS agencies continue to use IV fluids as their first line of care, in spite of mounting evidence that they are ineffective or even harmful.

In this presentation, I explore the evidence for the use of Lyophilized Plasma in American EMS, and it's potential to reduce mortality and save lives when Whole Blood cannot safely be used.

This is my final project for my Emergency Operations class.
