Although there are a few colonists still sick and in bed with malaria, I'm feeling the need to risk the livelihoods of our people. A quick call up to the Orion Installation, and we should soon see a trade caravan with half a dozen Orion members, right? Yeah, no, for whatever reason, the Orion Installation doesn't deal with trades. Instead, I have to pay for military backup (not that we need it). And, well, what do they send? A teenager who hates animals and is a vampire. Well, okay then. I guess that's good enough? Certainly not worth all the money we paid, but it's better than nothing. The boy is a vampire with an Orion exoskeleton, which makes him extra sturdy. If he dies in battle, I'll be very confused.

Next up: Taking on the thrumbos.
