OpenRails - Great Eastern 2 Shunting At Norwich Crown Point (RARE ADDON)
7Welcome to the next Open Rails video and something a little bit different this time for this easter weekend. Here we take a look at the very rare Making Tracks Great Eastern 2 route addon for Microsoft Train Simulator which was an expansion pack for the Great Eastern London to Ipswich route based in the 1990s. Although being very hyped about this addon pack i was a bit disappointed to find that it over rights the original Great Eastern 1990s NSE era route and changes it into the early 2000s Anglia era with an extension from Ipswich to Norwich, This can be seen as a bit of an odd approach for the expansion pack as it then makes the original Great Eastern route activities that are based in the 1990s era utterly useless as it is now completely out of era, It is a shame that Great Eastern 2 wasn't made into a separate version of the route to separate it from the 1990s era or to at the very least have the option to switch the era's.
In this video we take part in a shunting puzzle around Crown Point Depot at Norwich in the Anglia Class 08 shunter one of the many pieces of rolling stock that comes with this route expansion, The activity was very enjoyable and considering we don't tend to do shunting scenarios and this being probably one of the first featured on the channel it was a very enjoyable experience. The route overall detail wise is fantastic for the time and once again Making Tracks impress us with there skills of MSTS route building and asset creation.
With MSTS no longer being playable on windows, anyone wanting to play this old retro simulator shall have to download OpenRails which is basically a remastered/revisited version of this classic game making it compatible to run on modern day computers. It can be downloaded from the link below, it is recommended to have a copy of Microsoft Train Simulator installed to your computer for this game.
