The book goes over the pixel art of a bunch of arcade games. I like this way of going though video game history because it isn't something I would normally think about. By looking at the text you can see how things have evolved over time. You do get some pictures of the games, but the main focus is on the text and how the improved technology has allowed the designers to improve and add more to them.


The book also includes essays on different arcade font types and styles. They add a bit to the book and help to add some value to the book.
