Silent Hill Review - 25 Years On Still A Masterpiece
161Silent Hill released in 1999, immediately cementing itself as a major player in the flourishing Survival Horror land space. Its a game which took huge risks to differentiate itself from the other titles on the market by using real time environments and a 3rd person camera which tracks the player as they move through expansive areas.
As time moved on most look back on the franchise fondly for its sequels with the original barely mentioned. 25 years have passed since Silent Hill introduced the world to its brand of horror and it begs the question; does it hold up in 2024?
This review I'm going to explain what works, what doesn't and how team silent used console limitations to drive innovation.
