On April 8 2024 (ie today - as of the making of this episode) , all Nintendo Network online services for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will be shut down, but it does not mean you don't need to stop playing online games. This is all thanks to Pretendo - the community developed Nintendo Network online replacement which is free and open source for everyone to enjoy.
