Submerged: Hidden Depths is a third-person, combat-free, relaxing exploration adventure game from Uppercut Games. It is the stand-alone sequel to Submerged and follows the story of two siblings, Miku and Taku as they sail across a drowned city and explore forgotten villages seeking a way to free the world from the angry presence that lingers below the water.

The world has been overtaken by an angry plant thing, and its black tendrils stretch out across the ocean. It's your job to discover and explore the monuments of the world, overcome platforming puzzles, find corrupted seeds and return them to their flowery home and ultimately cleanse the black plant of its corruption.

Miku is cursed with a mysterious power that lets her cleanse this corruption, whilst Taku makes sure that the power doesn't destroy her. This sibling dynamic is a big part of the game and, as the story progresses, you begin to see the toll the journey is taking on their relationship.

You control Miku for the main story elements of the game and take on the role of Taku as you explore the secondary monuments to find additional collectibles. I thought this was a nice change and gave a little variation in the gameplay.

Platforming is pretty straightforward with none of the puzzles posing too much of a problem, but that isn't a bad thing. Movement feels fluid and the world is fun to explore with lots of collectibles to find along the way. The lack of combat removes any sense of danger and instead lets you relax and enjoy your time sailing around to find the hidden secrets of the drowned city.

The lore of the world is slowly revealed to you through hidden journals that you can find along the way and gives you a good reason to keep exploring. There are also hidden relics to dredge up from beneath the ocean, boat upgrades like a speed boost to find and special landmarks to discover along the way. You can find these as you go, or use your telescope to scout them out and mark them on your map to explore later.

The story itself isn't very long and will only take a couple of hours at most to complete but once the story is done you can keep exploring to your heart's content.

Overall, although fairly short, Submerged: Hidden depths is a fun game and a good way to relax and kill a few hours without too much stress.

Hope you enjoy the video!
